BT Control — Privacy Policy

BT Control turns your Android device into a Bluetooth keyboard and trackpad for computers, TVs, and other hosts that accept standard Bluetooth HID input. This policy describes how information is handled when you use the app.

Summary

We do not require an account to use BT Control. We do not operate our own servers for app data, and we do not sync your keystrokes, pointer movement, or pairing history to a cloud service we control. Bluetooth input is sent directly from your phone to the host device you pair with. The app may show ads through third-party SDKs, which can use identifiers and technical data as described below. We do not use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, or other Firebase backend products inside the Android app for data collection.

Information stored only on your device

The app may store the following locally on your device (for example in app preferences):

• Last connected Bluetooth host — Bluetooth device address (MAC), optional display name, and a timestamp when the HID session last reached a connected state. This helps show recent devices and reconnect quickly.
• Input you generate — Keystrokes, pointer movement, clicks, and similar HID events are processed on your phone and transmitted over Bluetooth to the paired host only. We do not receive a copy of that input.

Third-party advertising and identifiers

The app includes the AppLovin MAX mediation SDK to display banner ads in some screens when the SDK key and ad unit are configured in the app. Advertising partners may process data such as device identifiers, IP address, coarse location derived from IP, app version, and diagnostic or performance data to deliver and measure ads.

The app declares the Google Play Services Advertising ID permission (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) where applicable, which may be used by the ad stack for advertising and measurement in line with platform rules.

Permissions we request and why

• Bluetooth scan / connect — Discover and connect to your host as a Bluetooth HID device. On Android 12+, scan uses the neverForLocation flag; we do not use Bluetooth scan for your GPS location.
• Legacy Bluetooth and location (Android 11 and below only) — Older Android versions may require BLUETOOTH, BLUETOOTH_ADMIN, and ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION for Bluetooth discovery as required by the platform.
• Foreground service (connected device) — Keeps the HID session running reliably while you use the remote; Android shows an ongoing notification for this type of service.
• Post notifications — So the foreground service notification can be shown on supported Android versions.
• Internet — Used for loading and serving advertisements and related ad network communication; not used to send your keystrokes or trackpad data to us.

Children

BT Control is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children for our own use beyond what third-party ad SDKs may process under their policies.

Your choices

• You can limit ad personalization or reset your advertising ID in your device settings (for example Android Settings → Privacy → Ads, or equivalent on your device).
• You can revoke Bluetooth or notification permissions in system settings; some features will not work without them.
• Uninstalling the app removes locally stored app data from your device subject to how your device handles app data.

Data retention

We do not hold app pairing history or HID input on our own servers. Data retained by ad networks is governed by their respective policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
